It’s been a little over 2 years since I was laid off (not horrible). About a month later I ended up working for one of the vendors I used to project manage. It has turned into an incredible experience and definitely for the better. What has suffered, though, is my wardrobe.
I now work from home. I don’t have to go into an office (not horrible), but sometimes I do need to be on a videoconference or four or eight. It’s those days when pajamas, (couple) day-old hair piled on top of my head, and my husband’s hoodie really aren’t acceptable. Most days I can roll right on out of bed 10-15 minutes before my first call, use the facilities, let the dog out and feed him, make a cup of coffee, and be right on time for the first pow-wow of the day. No one is the wiser. However, on the days when my colleagues are lucky enough to see me, I do try kind of hard to look presentable. (I will admit that there have been plenty of days when I’ve had to do the whole “I’m so sorry for this!” gesture — you know what I’m talking about — when you sweep your hand John Cena-like in front of your own face while you look at everyone else on camera hoping that just 1 other person looks worse.)
On my presentable days, I’ve found that I don’t necessarily want to “dress” up. I just want to look nice. Ok, most importantly, I want to be comfortable. Enter Peach.
A friend recently turned me on to this up and coming fashion line for women. It’s marketed as athleisure wear for work and play. I was sold! And then I signed up as a Stylist.
Check it out here! I’m just getting started with it. But so far I’ve loved everything. I get to hang out with a really great friend, I’m supported by several other women who want to help each other succeed, and I get to wear some super comfy and sleek clothes! I’d love to enlist more friends to join but I’m just not a pushy individual. I’m not salesy. What I love about this opportunity is that I get the chance to hang out with girlfriends who like to shop and drink wine! Wow, 2 of my favorite pastimes!
I spend a lot of time at my day job sitting at a computer and sitting at a computer and doing a lot of sitting at my computer. It’s tiring. If I’m going to be tired, I want it to be for some damn good reasons! I decided that I didn’t want to get to the point that I hated my job so I needed to find something to do for me. Peach works because it’s exactly the type of clothing I wear and why not make a little money sharing and selling product that you love? My daughter is old enough now to be a little more into fashion, too. She even has a few Peach pieces of her own! Maybe someday she can even help at pop-up shows or virtual trunk shows. Oh, and another bonus is that most of this selling can be done online! I mean, come on, how many of us shop online anymore instead of driving over to the mall? I was lucky enough to even have one of my NJ co-workers purchase a few things from me when I launched my business last month! With free returns, why not?
So that’s my fashionista story. I don’t intend to quit my day job just because I’m a Peach Stylist now. If I can introduce this line to more women and if they love the clothes as much as I do then we’re all winners! Feel free to check out my Facebook page. Leave comments, ask questions, shop… 🍑
