I pride myself on not having an addictive personality (to bad things/habits). For example, I was one of those college students who started smoking doing my second year. It wasn’t because I was giving in to peer pressure; it was just something to do to occupy my time. If I was alone, I had a cigarette to pass the time. If I was with friends, I would have a cigarette (or more than one) to pass the time. But I honestly felt that I could stop smoking anytime. And I did. I don’t recall when I stopped smoking; I just know that when I stopped — I stopped. Cold turkey. I didn’t think it was hard at all.
Sometimes, though, there are things that make me completely obsessive-compulsive — things that make me stop doing anything else (laundry, cooking, cleaning, daily showers). Ew, I know. One thing is reading. If I find a fabulous series of books then I have to read as much as possible, taking breaks only if absolutely necessary. I’ll carry my Nook around with me from my bedroom to the living room to the kitchen to the bathroom to the deck… Once I finish one of the books in the series, I’ll check to make sure I have enough in my account to purchase the next book in the series. Then I’ll carry my Nook around with me from my bedroom to the living room to the kitchen to the bathroom to the deck, and on it goes…
My other obsessions? As if you didn’t already know from my blog title — coffee (I need at least one every day; if Starbucks isn’t available [or if I’m not in the mood to drive there] then I’ll settle for my Keurig) and love (I’m in love with the idea of love; I want everyone to have love and be loved; I’m a sucker for love).
